Confessions of a 1st Grade Teacher

I love that one of my blogging friends Jennifer Tice over at Rowdy in First Grade thought of hosting a little teacher confessions linky just in time for Teacher Appreciation Week!

I am sure that we are all counting down to summer in some way shape or form.  Maybe you are counting down with your class, we are doing the ABC Countdown, or perhaps you are just crossing off the blocks on your desk calendar.  Whatever they are, we must confess that it is that time of the year!

Here are a couple of my confessions...read on if you promise you will still be my friend tomorrow.

1. The entire left file folder drawer in my desk is food. Mainly chocolate, peanut butter, anything you may need at any given time.

2. I may or may not receive at least 2 phone calls or post it notes a day requesting something from the drawer.  I guess that is what happens when there are 20 plus women in 1 building.

3.  Sometimes, ok every Wednesday, I am about 2 minutes late because I attend the 7:15 a.m. Pure Barre class. I promise I leave early and maybe or maybe not exceed the speed limit to try and make it to school by 8:15 a.m. A girl has got to try and get a workout in when she can, right?

4. Over Easter break, I forgot my jump drive and thought that clearly that if my card opened the door, I would be good to go.  It scanned, it opened and.... the alarm went off.   I had to explain to my principal what I thought was a good idea and Praise the Lord, she took care of it all but man was I a mess after that one.  (I never went in and got my jump drive because I was too afraid of the police coming in and drawing their guns looking for me.)

5.  I may be the messiest organized teacher in my school, well lets make that the district.  Ask me where a paper is, I will find it.  If you are standing at the doorway of my classroom though, you would not be impressed.  I just can't not collect a paper and check it.  Problem is that they pile up for quite a while before actually getting checked.   Perhaps this is why I only have 1 out of 8 millipedes left in our classroom terrariums.  (I didn't like them anyway :)

Those are only a few of my teacher confessions! Stay tuned for more and check out the other link ups!

  1. #4 is cracking me up! I live in fear of setting off the alarm! I already ate all the food in my drawer-eek. So happy you linked up!
